I still have not been able to view the video, which is why I have not commented.
Do not be surprised if I comment again once I actually view it.

It seems to me that most athiest are trying to intimidate the christians. You used to try to do that, and every one I listen to or read about will do the same thing.
They want the Christian to back down, which is what most of us do.
Are we doing it because we are ashamed or do we lack the knowledge we need for this particular battle. I know that you probably knew more about the bible as an atheist than most believers (including myself) know. That is a sad statement, but I really feel it is a true one.

Since you have started teaching, I have learned so much more about the Word than I had learned the other 20 or 30 years I was exposed to it. I have never really just accepted what someone said because he called himself a preacher, I would try to investigate what was being taught. I did, however, accept a ton of junk that I should not have.

I know now that a 'pat' answer will just not do. I have a long way to go, but hopefully I will have something to say other than "because the bible says so".

I look forward to the video clip. I am sure it will shine a light on yet another area that I need to grow in daily!!!

We have to boldly go where no man has...

Wait a minute, that was Star Trek. Sorry.

But seriously, there is nothing to be afraid of. Especially for you. The way you love and your lack of a judgmental attitude would probably go a long way in allowing you to tell someone that you love them and then to be able to tell them why.

Love you John

ok i watched it. it was good-you've said similar statements to us in class and to me personally. by saying nothing we are helping them into hell. I agree with you. I would find it easier to approach an athiest with the gospel than someone who thinks they are saved. i dont fear argument or debate, i fear confrontation.

John,

If you did not listen to the video, I really wish you would.

Jillette has a lot to say about the man that approached him that might be a lesson to us all.

it is only about five minutes, but I found something refreshing in the honesty of Jillette and the simplicity of the Christian involved.

Love you

Thanks for the new post Sonny. I'm not ever ashamed of Jesus but my own personal shame can stop me from spreading the gospel. its hard to tell someone how they should be a christian when they have just heard me gossiping or gripping about the boss. The thing that would most often stop me though is the fear of confrontation. Most people if asked would say that they are christian, even the guy in the adulteress affair. Or they would say that they are spiritual and enjoy a persional relationship with God and he understands their heart. thats where the confrontation comes in that I prefer to avoid. I pray for them that God will show them the error of their way and that if they come to me i'll know what to say. I know that thats not always enough though. perhaps thats why God keeps me in the kitchen and not on the front lines!

An after thought.....

It was not the little Bible that impressed Penn, it was the man who gave it to him. We never know when WE will be someone's Bible.

That is a powerful video :!:

I am not one of Penn Jillette's biggest fans by far, but I still do not want him to go to hell. There are so many non-believers out there that sooner or later find themselves in a helpless situation. A situation where the true meaning of "powerlessness" is overwhelming. It is usually then that such a person will call out to a "higher power" of some sort for hope. I feel that we as Christians should do our best to make sure that every person we meet has heard about the love of Jesus Christ in hopes that those desperate people in those desperate situations will choose Him.

I seriously doubt that Penn Jillette will disregard that "little book" that nice man gave him. I believe he will keep it around. And who knows....maybe one day he might find himself in a desperate situation and remember that "little book" and read it.

Peace and Love to all.
