Tuesday Town Hall 12…New Year

Posted by: Sonny   in America, Townhall Tuesday

townhall-2I just realized it was Tuesday again.  Time really does fly sometimes.  I wonder if God feels this way sometimes.  That is for another discussion though.  Things seem to get messy and involved whenever I mention God and either time or foreknowledge.

Since we are still in the “holiday season”, I realize a lot of you are still very busy with friends and family so I want to keep this Tuesday Town Hall discussion light and easy again.  So I will once again focus on the holiday that will arrive in a couple of days.

We call it New Years Day.  There are some traditional ways that people have ushered in the first day on our calendar, but some of them just do not line up with the biblical worldview we should all have.

I know that most of the times that I did celebrate this holiday in the past was by spending half of it in bed with a hangover.  That is not the case now.  So here is what I would like to know:

How important is this holiday to you?

If you celebrate it, how or what do you do?

If you do not, what do you do on this day off?

I just now realized that a lot of us get the first day of the year off from work every year.  That is a good thought, at least.

What say you?

Love you all.

Having worked in a hospital for sooooooo many years, holidays have never really been anything special. The past 8 years or so I have always worked on New Years day. Most of the time it was optional, but it was always a good day to be able to get a lot of busy work done around the hospital with zero interruptions. It also was easy to spend time in different departments watching football while getting your work done too. ;)

Anywho…..this year I will most likely spend my day about 30 feet up a tree enjoying some of God’s wonderful creation.

New Year’s Day is not really anything special to me. I’m always thankful that I have made it through another one. Just keep bringin’ ‘em :) I am retired now so the day off doesn’t pertain to me. I still have that old fashion tradition of eating pork, black eyed peas and something green. Just habit.

It’s nice to spend New Year’s Eve with some family or friends (or both). It gives us another reason to hang out with each other. If that doesn’t happen, no big deal either. Unlike Doug, I will NOT be in a tree  I will be kicked back in my little nest enjoying another one of God’s creations…… movie rentals.

I do hope that sometime during our new year that God will use me to make a difference in someone’s life that does not know Him.

Happy New Year to all.

WELL I USUALLY SPEND NEW YEARS EVE IN THE BED WITH NOTHING TO DO BECAUSE LIKE EVERYONE IT IS JUST ANOTHER DAY. HOWEVER THIS YEAR I WILL BE SPENDING NEW YEARS EVE WITH FRIENDS. I AM EXCITED TO SPEND IT WITH THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS THE ONE’S GOD HAS PUT IN MY LIFE AND DOUG BE CAREFUL UP IN THE TREE.

Okay Okay sorry for the yelling at Sonny. I just wanted to make sure he heard what I was saying since I never say anything in his Class at church. God bless you everyone.

Since it is too late to tell you what I “will” do on New Years Day, let me just start by saying that I always enjoy a paid day off from work.

I think it is nice to take that day and sit on the couch with my good looking husband and catch up on some television. We do not seem to get near enough time together during this “season of togetherness”. :lovetransforms:

After a busy Christmas season, it is nice to take a day and do as little as possible before returning to the busyness that is our life.
I find it ironic that we say that the Christmas season is mostly about family, but very few of us have time to really enjoy the time we have with them. If we were honest, most would admit that we dread more than we enjoy.
I never make resolutions, but I do hope to enjoy my life more this year!!
