1. My great-great grandfather faught in the Civil War. He lost one of his legs in battle, but he survived.

My great uncle was a POW in a german prison camp for 5 years during the WWII era. Not exactly sure which years. He made it through.

My brother was an MP in the Army stationed in Atlanta. He had just finished his shift at Centennial Park when the bomb went off at 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He had to turn around and go back to help.

My father has 7 brothers and 4 sisters. The youngest brother did not enlist, but the other 7 did, including my father. They all made it home safe. My father was stationed in South
Korea during the Vietnam War. He almost went to Vietnam.

There have been some close calls, but no one has died in my family that I know of.

2. The holiday meant a lot to me, because I am blessed to have never lost a loved one to war. However, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to those who weren't so lucky, as well as the ones who are still actively serving today, like my best friend Jon Aultman.

While we may all have different views on war, I believe that the freedom of this country depends on it.

No, I am not trying to open a discussion about war...LOL

3. I am quite confident that they did do something special at church sunday, but my 2 youngest children were sick, so I didn't make the service.

THANK YOU VETERANS FOR YOUR SERVICE, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!!

1. Do you have a family member that has given their life in war for this nation?

I have had family members in the military and in war, but no deaths in war to my knowledge. I am sure somewhere down the line there has been at least one.

2. Did you reflect on what the holiday was actually for at all?

I always try to look at holidays like this with respect to those who have paid the price for us. I do not celebrate like some people do, but I definitely have respect for those who have served.

3. Did your church do anything Sunday to honor these fallen warriors?

Don't know, I did not go. I am sure they did, but you can read my post on Big Fish to see why that is.

I do go from time to time to help gain some perspective, and to learn more about God.

Peace and love 8)
